The same personal approach continues beyond the treatment itself. Our team remains directly involved before you travel, throughout your stay in Istanbul and after you return home, with 24/7 aftercare access for existing Mercure patients.

Once local anesthesia has taken effect, the treatment areas are numb and the hair transplant itself proceeds without any pain.

The short initial anesthesia stage is the only sensitive part, as the scalp still needs to be numbed. Needle-Free Pre-Anesthesia is included as standard to make this stage more comfortable.

For medically suitable patients who prefer not to experience this initial stage while awake, Deep Sleep IV Sedation is available. You sleep for approximately 15 minutes while the local anesthesia is administered.

By the time you wake, the local anesthesia has taken effect and the treatment areas are numb. This means even the normally sensitive anesthesia stage is not experienced while you are awake, allowing the entire treatment experience to proceed without an awake painful stage.

There is no standard graft number that is appropriate for every patient.

The appropriate number depends on the areas being treated, existing hair, hair characteristics, donor capacity and the balance between coverage and density that can responsibly be planned.

A lower advertised price can therefore represent a different treatment structure. Comparing hair transplants only by graft number or procedure name does not necessarily mean comparing the same medical involvement, treatment components, time and continued support.

Mercure does not position a higher price as a treatment standard in itself.

We work with one clear treatment standard, rather than creating progressively more expensive treatment levels around individual techniques or components. Your individual treatment plan determines how that standard is applied to your case.

For the same reason, a higher price elsewhere does not necessarily mean that more medical involvement, individual attention or a more comprehensive treatment is being provided.

No. The Mercure treatment is designed to be complete from the beginning. Our full treatment standard and everything we consider important for your treatment, comfort and standard recovery are already included. There is no higher treatment tier you need to upgrade to in order to receive a more complete Mercure treatment.

You will not leave your treatment only to be presented with additional 3, 6 or 12-month aftercare packages, laser packages, mesotherapy programmes, repeated clinic treatments, supplement plans, special serums or other unnecessary post-treatment upsells.

These additional packages are not required as part of the standard Mercure recovery pathway, which is why we do not sell them. Everything we consider necessary for your standard treatment and recovery is already included from the beginning.

There are no hidden treatment tiers, no required aftercare packages and no routine upsells after your procedure. You know before travelling what your treatment includes and what you are paying for.

The only optional treatment choice with an additional cost is Deep Sleep IV Sedation (€350) for medically suitable patients. Flights are booked separately.

The treatment is built around the individual patient, rather than fitting the patient into a high-volume daily schedule.

Hairline design is a good example. In high-volume hair transplant settings, this step can sometimes be completed within just a few minutes. When something so visible and permanent is rushed or based too closely on a standard design, small decisions in height, shape, symmetry and transition can have a significant effect on how natural the result appears.

At Mercure, hairline design alone normally takes around 15–20 minutes. Facial proportions, existing hair, hair-loss pattern and the longer-term situation are considered carefully, with time to draw, assess and refine the design before treatment begins.

The same level of precision continues during the procedure. The responsible physician is personally involved in the consultation and treatment planning and performs the channel-opening stage, where the placement, direction, angle and distribution of the transplanted hair are established. Patient-specific fine instruments are selected according to the individual grafts, hair characteristics and recipient areas, allowing for more refined work throughout the treatment.

For most patients, the complete Mercure journey in Istanbul takes three days and two nights.

Day 1 — Arrival
You can arrive in Istanbul at any time. Your private airport transfer takes you directly to the hotel, and the rest of the day is yours to settle in and rest.

Day 2 — Treatment
Your treatment takes place the following day, beginning with the necessary medical checks, personal consultation and individual treatment planning before the procedure starts.

Day 3 — First Wash & Departure
Your first wash, initial check and post-treatment instructions take place in the morning. Your return flight can be planned from approximately 13:00 / 1:00 PM onwards, so you can depart in the afternoon or evening.

For example, if your treatment is on December 15, you can arrive on December 14, have your treatment on December 15 and fly home on December 16 after 13:00 / 1:00 PM.

Prefer to arrive earlier or stay longer in Istanbul? That is completely fine. Simply let us know and we can adapt the arrangements around your travel plans.

Going home does not mean the personal contact with Mercure ends. Our aftercare continues with you at home.

Especially during the first days, we stay closely involved. We will actively check in with you, follow your recovery and ask for updates or photographs where needed. During approximately the first 10 days, when most of the initial healing and washing steps take place, contact is usually daily or every other day depending on your recovery.

You do not need to wait for a scheduled check-in if you have a question or something concerns you. Existing Mercure patients have direct 24/7 aftercare access, with fast responses and personal assistance whenever needed.

After the initial recovery period, we continue to follow your progress at the important stages of hair growth. Whether it is 10 days, 6 months or a year after your treatment, you can always reach us. We remain available to our patients 24/7 whenever support or advice is needed.

Once your treatment is booked, there is very little you need to worry about. We will stay in touch and guide you step by step from booking until your treatment day.

For now, we simply recommend switching to a neutral shampoo, such as baby shampoo, and continuing your normal routine.

The main preparation starts one week before your treatment. From that point, you should avoid alcohol, smoking and blood-thinning medication unless otherwise advised by your doctor. Caffeine should be avoided during the final two days before treatment.

We will explain these preparations when you book, and one week before your treatment we will contact you again to remind you of everything, so you do not need to keep track of it all yourself.
