Health and medication

We ask you questions about your health and medication use. Before the hair transplantation, you let us know if you have any medical problems or are taking medications.

If you have health problems, consult your doctor in advance about your planned hair transplantation. We will also provide insights, but this should be considered in conjunction with the input of your primary doctor or dermatologist.

In addition, we cannot treat you if you have infectious diseases, such as HIV or hepatitis. We do not charge cancellation fees, but to avoid disappointment, it is in your best interest to have a blood test done if you have any doubts. You can do this with our partner Labplusarts at more than 350 locations in the Netherlands. Via the following link, you can add the test to your shopping cart and choose your nearest location. Our consultants are also ready to help you make an appointment.

In our clinic, we also conduct a blood test on the day of your treatment, which is included in your all-in package.

Avoid blood-thinning medications

A few days before the hair transplantation, you should not use blood-thinning medications. If you are taking blood thinners, you should stop them in a timely manner (with the approval of your doctor) before undergoing hair transplantation.

Avoid alcohol and caffeine

Avoid alcohol for 4 to 5 days and caffeine for 2 days before your treatment. The use of both can affect the efficiency of local anesthetics that doctors give you before the operation.

Smoking reduces blood flow to the scalp by narrowing blood vessels and limiting the delivery of nutrients to the follicles. For this reason, smoking should also be avoided the day before the procedure. Furthermore, you should avoid smoking during the first week after your treatment, as this is when your follicles most need adequate nutrition.

The hair transplantation day

Take a shower on the morning of the treatment and take care of your personal hygiene. Do not use styling products in your hair. Come well-rested to the treatment and have a light breakfast. Avoid caffeine.

Wear comfortable clothing with buttons

We recommend wearing a button-down shirt or a T-shirt with a wide collar so that you don’t drag the shirt over your scalp. This is also a good practice for the days after the procedure.

In general, wear comfortable clothing during the treatment, as it lasts almost six hours, depending on the number of grafts you receive.

In the treatment room

No companion/friend/girlfriend is allowed in the treatment room. We receive your companions in our waiting room or cafeteria lounge.

Do not chew gum during the treatment. The use of mobile phones or devices is allowed.
